Design Director, Vemi
Pip Sharp is Design Director at Vemi, an independently owned company specialising in the design, fitout and delivery of contemporary commercial workspaces. With more than 24 years' experience across the UK and Australia, Pip brings a strong combination of design leadership, strategic thinking, creativity and technical expertise to every project she leads.
As Design Director, Pip is responsible for driving design excellence across Vemi's national portfolio. Her approach combines a clear design vision with technical rigour, commercial awareness and a detailed understanding of how spaces are experienced, occupied and used.
Throughout her career, Pip has developed a deep understanding of materiality and its influence on the way we experience the built environment. Her interests include materials designed for circularity, healthier finishes, recycled and upcycled products, and smart, functional surfaces. Pip's experience spans workplace, government, public space, retail and social infrastructure, giving her a broad perspective on the role of design across different sectors and communities. A passionate advocate for design excellence, she is actively engaged in the workplace sector and regularly contributes her expertise as a keynote speaker and panellist.
With extensive industry experience and a considered approach to design, materiality, sustainability and innovation, Pip brings a broad and informed perspective to the judging process. She considers design not only through the lens of visual impact, but also its material integrity, functionality, longevity, sustainability and overall contribution to the experience of the built environment.
Entries will be assessed by our independent judging panel against a set of criteria designed to recognise both strong creative outcomes and the considered use of polytec products, finishes and systems.
For the Creator Award, judges will consider the strength and originality of the design concept, functionality and design resolution, the integration of polytec within the overall material palette, and the visual impact of the completed project.
For the Maker Award, judges will focus on material and systems integration, craftsmanship, quality of finish and detailing, and how well the completed joinery performs in everyday use.
The criteria are intended to recognise projects where polytec is used with purpose, not simply as a surface finish, but as an integral part of the overall design and execution.
